Today I hosted a wonderful group of eager hikers up the West Butte Trail in Palmer. The day was glorious. The smell of the earth was rich as we hiked. Every leaf on the gently swaying trees unfurled to soak in the warmth of the sun. When we reached the top, we were greeted by stunning views of Knik Glacier, majestic Pioneer Peak, and the entire river basin stretching out in front of us.
We found a grassy knoll and my students immediately relaxed into savasana, waiting for class to begin. I invited my students to use the support of the earth, the expanse of the sky, and the warmth of the sun to help them connect to that place of stillness and peace inside of them. The practice was short and sweet, ending with me chanting ‘hari om’.
I am so honored to have the experience of teaching such open, connected humans. The energy of the class was incredibly centered and full of sweetness. I can’t wait to lead ‘Yoga on the Butte’ next month!
